Sin came into the world through one man, and his sin brought death with it. As a result, death has spread to the whole human race because everyone has sinned. In the same way Righteousness came into the world through one man, and His Righteousness with it. As a result, life has spread to the whole human race because everyone has been made righteous. So then, as the one sin condemned all people, in the same way the one righteous act sets all people free and gives them life. And just as all people were made sinners as the result of the disobedience of one man, in the same way all people are put right with God as the result of the obedience of the one man – Jesus Christ!

The day SIN entered the world, MAN was immediately separated from God. Man lost his relationship with God. CHRIST JESUS restored the relationship so WHOSOEVER believes in HIM is reconciled back to God. John 3:16

The Battle for souls has been raging for the soul of every individual on earth to get man to continue to remain separated from God or have life and relationship with God. Rev. 12:12 “..Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath.”

This war human beings are engaged in is not a physical battle that requires bullets and guns. It is a spiritually battle. 2 Corinthians 10:4 says “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.”

A stronghold is a building or structure that is safe from attack, The Battle which begins in the mind is influenced and intensely attacked by the systems of the world, systems of thought and traditions of men which are strongholds put together to become a barrier to keep human beings from being what God wants them to be or from stepping out of faith in God. Mark 7:13 says The traditions of men have made the Word Of God of none effect.

Sin is a personality

This incensed attack and battle for souls are the direct result of man being cajoled or ‘forced’ to live without God and rather do everything on his own. By sustained coaxing and deception this “new” way of lifestyle of living without God has reached the loudest point on earth culminating now in protests everywhere, crisis, strives, killings, anxieties, pressure, difficulties and confusion all over. Man was created to have fellowship with God and nothing but intimacy with Him will ever satisfy the deepest longing of the soul. The requirements and demands of the times to live without God have now reached epic proportions,

The just-ended opening and closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic games depicted a horrible desecration, complete mockery of LORD Jesus Christ and Blasphemy of the Christian Faith by the Olympic Committee. You may ask yourself what those acts had to do with Games. The games viewed by all nations of the world displayed performances which were obviously demonic.

Images of Marie Antoinette, queen of France whose head was chopped off in the French Revolution holding her severed head and singing; Blood coming and splattering down from a building; The head of a Golden Bull; Bisexuality and same sex; Mockery of Last Supper and The Wedding Banquet among others. What was done was no fluke or innocent but yes the Olympic Committee knew exactly what they were doing – replacing Christ Jesus with the worshipping of satan, the next world agenda.

O you believer and follower of Christ, if there has ever been a time to seek God more than ever before, this is the time, and so very fast before it is too late for Jesus warned that unless the days are cut short, even the very elect will be deceived. Matthew 24:22 “Unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.”

Who is Man?
– Man is created in the Image and likeness (Nature, Spirit) of God
– Man given dominion over all creation.
-Man is a three –dimensional being. Man is made of three parts – Body, Soul and Spirit. Man is a spirit after the Image of God. He lives in a body and has a soul. The moment the spirit leaves the body, your journey here in the world ends. You do not take anything that you earned throughout your life journey with you except one thing: – Your deeds, whether it be good or bad.

What is the Soul of Man?
– The soul of man consists of his Mind or intellect, his emotions and his will
– The soul of man feels
– The soul of man chooses
– The soul of man knows
– The soul of man talks
– The soul of man fears
– The soul of man makes a decision
– The soul of man laughs
– The soul of man gets into a rage
– The soul of man expresses himself
– The soul of man gets in touch with his environment.

God’s intention is to reconcile man back to his/her original glorious state in Him: Your spirit saved; your soul renewed and your body changed and restored. You must win this battle. You must give God glory and stand at the place and say that you a true Christian not only in words but in deeds and practice.

And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, KINGG OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

Understanding the battle for your soul is crucial. When Satan seeks to gain control over you, he doesn’t announce himself at your door, declaring, “I’m here to take over your life.” Instead, he operates subtly and strategically.

The battle for one’s soul is a significant theme on earth. The adversary that opposes everything God, employs subtle tactics to influence and control individuals, governments, nations, etc often without their immediate awareness. he operates through manipulation and deception via humans, and or other ways, often exploiting everyday situations to provoke negative emotions such as anger or resentment. For instance a seemingly innocuous interaction can trigger feelings of being wronged, leading to a cycle of anger, bitterness, fights, divorce, protests or war.

The Bible provides several strategies for resisting this influence. Key passages emphasize the importance of being strong in the Lord and recognizing that the battle is not fought in human strength but through divine power. Ephesians 6:10-18 outlines the “armor of God,” to equip believers to stand firm against the devil’s schemes .

Furthermore, James 4:7 encourages believers to “resist the devil, and he will flee from you,” highlighting the effectiveness of vigilance and spiritual discipline in combating temptation .

While the opposer is portrayed as a “powerful” adversary, it is crucial to understand that he is powerless with limitations. He is not omniscient or omnipresent; he cannot read minds or be everywhere at once. His influence is based on observation and manipulation rather than direct control . This means that individuals have the agency to resist his temptations through awareness and reliance on spiritual truths.

How should you live?

What God Says in The Bible is the first process to show how you should live when it comes to winning the battle for your soul.

Speak the Word of God day and night to convert your soul daily. What limits you is your soul. When you speak the Word of God, your soul is aligned, your emotion is aligned; your thought process is aligned; your will is aligned and your spirit gives you power to move forward and provide the way of escape for you to win the battle for your soul.

Watch the songs you listen to/Films you watch

Watch the things you watch, read or listen on the Media – Radio, TV, Newspapers, Books and the Internet.

Watch the Friends you have – your best friend cannot be unbelievers.

Do not isolate yourself or do not live in isolation.

Grow in Grace – look at yourself and ask whether you are growing by seeing fruits in your life that you did not see before; or are there things you understand now that you did not understand before.

Meditate on the Word of God day and night

The competition for the soul of man is a battle between adherence to the Word of God or succumbing to the adversary’s influence to disregard the Word of God. This conflict is highlighted by contemporary societal issues such as rise in individualism, the promotion of lifestyles and culture that contradict Biblical teachings and persuasion of individuals to abandon the divine truths found in Scripture. Once the opposer can get you to let go of the Word of God, then he has won the battle.

Today the modern discourse includes phrases like “it is my right” or “hate speech,” when discussing moral and ethical standards. Actions such as wearing inverted crosses, tearing up Bibles, and the rise of LGBTQ+ rights are manifestations of a shift away from Biblical values. The life of individualism is one that undermines communal values and Biblical teachings. The Biblical narrative warns against such attitude that leads to violence and sin. The battle for your soul is a continuous struggle against negative influences, deception and the need for spiritual vigilance. It reflects deep-seated concerns about the erosion of traditional values in the face of modern challenges.

The call to action is clear: believers are to remain steadfast in their faith, uphold the Word of God, and engage in spiritual warfare against the influences that seek to undermine their beliefs. This struggle is not only about personal conviction but also about the broader implications for society as a whole. By understanding the tactics employed by the opposer and arming oneself with Biblical truths and spiritual practices, individuals can navigate these challenges and maintain their believe and spiritual integrity in Christ Jesus. The focus remain on cultivating a relationship with God, which serves as the ultimate defense against spiritual adversaries. If we are abiding in Him the whole world can collapse around us and we will be at perfect peace because we have built our lives on a Kingdom that cannot be shaken.

Yes it is a battle between Light and darkness, Day and night, Life and death, Truth and lies, Good and evil, Dawn and dusk, Jesus and satan – the opposer, adversary and accuser of the brethren.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” If you have not yet believed in Christ Jesus, do so today and restore your relationship with God. Remember, whether you believe or you do not believe, it does not change the Truth that The Savior gave His life to free and save all the 8 billion human beings on earth from SIN and HE is soon coming for all who have CHOSEN to believe. In deed you disbelieve to our own peril. CHOOSE LIFE!!!

As a child of God it is critical to cultivate a strong relationship with The Father. This must be practical not merely sentimental.

Prayer must be honest relevant and purifying. Our greatest need is a pure and contrite heart. But this comes with a fiery searching blaze of God’s refining fire. It attacks our self-centeredness and crushes the ego we so much protect and resent at the same time. The paradox of our willingness and unwillingness to let go our pride is a gridlock to our spiritual growth. Only an inspired intentional and intense fellowship with God can help us allow him wrestle ourselves from ourselves.

Satan knows this so he does all he does to prevent such regular encounters with God: he makes us busy with work, husband, wife, children, friends, “church”, financial pursuits, and many “very important things” we can not trade for a painful flesh-killing regular encounter with the lover of our souls. The hater works hard to excuse us from meeting the lover! You must breakthrough this blockade. My dear, give yourself to true prayer…much of it.

Secondly, understand that the Bible is God’s solemn word and the only true access to his mind, purpose and will. If you loved God, you would love his word; no excuses. So, at least engage the spirit of the word through:

1. Effective daily quiet time for daily guidance in his will

2. Monthly personal thorough Bible studies for in-depth understanding of the word so you are not carried away by the so many misleading sermons and doctrines unleashed by gain-saying people masquerading as “men of God” and

3. Regular routine reading of the Bible to appreciate the divine narrative of humanity and eternity; so that your faith his vitally reinforced in your spirit and sub-conscience. Read the Bible through at least once every year

Third, Invest in soul winning: actually, literally, save sinners from hell. Teach the word of God to those the Lord brings your way, in your sphere of influence, and help them grow in the knowledge and love of Christ Jesus. If you don’t succeed in winning souls, it could be an indicator that your soul is not really won. Like begets like. Be a truly reproductive Christian. Spend your God-given resources to love and win sinners to the Saviour, knowing that we were all sinners in time past.

Forth: seek and enjoy vital refreshing and reinforcing Christian fellowship. Clear the clutter and identify the many good brethren the Lord has placed within your circle of life at every stage of the journey, and humbly engage in the sweet fellowship of these sister and brothers, two, three or more, the Lord ministers to you through them and to them through you.

Be focused diligent and consistent in these things. Our God is with us!

In Matthew 6:24 Jesus says no one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve two masters, This is a powerful call to put God first in all areas of life. One’s loyalties must be undivided. Wherever our treasure is, there will our hearts be (Matthew 6:21). We follow what captivates our hearts, and Jesus made it clear that we cannot serve two masters.

The world we live in today has shifted. 2Timothy 3:2 rightly warns us that in the last days people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful and unholy, Jesus’ call to follow Him is therefore an important call to abandon all other masters.

Christ or Caesar

Preaching Matthew 6:33 to the world and current generation today will not make a mass-market ad campaign for Christianity for people now love only themselves and their money. They are boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and unholy. They consider nothing sacred. New “Religions and Congregations” calling themselves “Christian” are popping up everywhere and they preach social gospel not the True Gospel and Good news of everlasting life. The peril to true believers is not to being deceived or killed but being drawn into expressing the same sinful attitudes and conduct. Jesus says we are in the world but we are not of the world. Despite conversion, we are still capable of expressing these sins. We must be on guard!

Jesus makes it clear (Exodus 20:3) it is impossible to worship any other thing (money, self, fame, alcohol, etc) and God simultaneously, as they are incompatible. Solomon asked for wisdom first and every other thing was added to it. 2 Chronicles 1:11-12 (NCV) says “But since you have asked for wisdom and knowledge to lead my people, over whom I have made you king, I will give you wisdom and knowledge. I will also give you more wealth, riches, and honor than any king who has lived before you or any who will live after you.”

Jesus bought us with His own Blood and delivered us from our former master, sin. He doesn’t share His Throne with anyone. Luke 9:57–62 tells us about the cost of following Jesus where we follow Jesus but our devotion to Him is superficial: We want something Jesus offers, but aren’t committed (Mark 10:17–22). Other things are more important. We want to serve two masters.

In Exodus 34:14, The Lord describes Himself as a “jealous God.” This means He guards what is rightfully His. He is righteously jealous for our affections because we were created to worship and love Him (Colossians 1:16).

Two Masters, One Choice

Opposing masters demand different things and take different paths. Whiles The Lord is headed in one direction, our flesh and the world are headed in the other. A choice must be made. When we follow Christ, we must die to everything else.

In the Parable of the Unjust Steward in Luke 16:1-13, Jesus used the story to illustrate a principle about wise stewardship. Jesus defines mammon as ”unrighteous” and tells his followers that mammon does not represent true riches.

Earthly wealth (“unrighteous mammon”) is temporary, but can be used to “make friends” that is support and help others come to know Christ, therefore believers should be as intelligent and clever in using their earthly wealth to further God’s kingdom as the unjust steward was in securing his own future. Faithfulness in handling earthly, temporary possessions demonstrates one’s ability to be entrusted with “true riches” in God’s eternal kingdom. One must choose to serve God wholeheartedly as the true Master

As Believers we are to handle money responsibly rather than hoarding or squandering them. Faithful stewardship of temporary possessions leads to eternal rewards. The key is having the right mindset of recognizing that all we have ultimately belongs to God, and we are simply managers of His resources. We must be faithful stewards of what God has given us.

In Isaiah 45, God promised to give Cyrus, a non-Israelite king, “treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places” to accomplish His purposes for Israel. God is sovereign and can use whomever He chooses, even non-believers, to carry out His will and advance His kingdom plans. He is not limited by human categories rather we must focus on our own relationship with Him.

We are to examine our hearts and see how faithful we are with what we currently have. Can we qualify ourselves for greater things God wants to do in our lives?

The message is one of trusting in God’s sovereign plan and positioning ourselves to be used by Him, even in unexpected ways, rather than relying solely on our own efforts and abilities. Our strength and abilities are limited, but God can lift us far beyond our own efforts if we submit to His leading.

True service to God is not motivated by a desire for recognition or reward. Jesus instructs His disciples to view themselves as unprofitable servants, meaning they have done only what was required of them and not for any personal gain or recognition. We are to recognize the importance of serving God out of a sense of duty and obedience rather than expecting any personal benefit.

When we have done all that is commanded of us, we should say, “We are unprofitable servants; we have only done our duty” (Luke 17:10). This emphasizes the idea that our service to God should be motivated by a sense of duty and obedience rather than personal gain or recognition. The servant is not thanked for his efforts because he was simply doing what was expected of him.

Believers are therefore to trust in God’s provision and to serve Him without expecting any personal reward.

In applying to your life:

Be faithful with the little you have first, and God will entrust you with more.

Don’t dip into the resources you have committed to God for your own purposes.

Honor God with your finances, and He will provide for your needs.

Pray for God to help you be a faithful steward, recognizing it is a journey

Make a personal decision to yield your resources to God and advance His kingdom.

Enter into a covenant with God about how you will steward what He has given you.

Commit to glorifying God, not being driven by the love of money.

Focus on being faithful with what you have now

Surrendering control of your life to God, growing in faithful stewardship.

Using our resources to further His kingdom rather than serving our own desires.

As Believers, trust in God’s provision and serve Him faithfully, regardless of whether you receive any personal reward.

With the help of the Holy Spirit we can remain devoted to one Master.

It is written:
“The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness.” Luke 11:34

The directions of our lives are driven by the intentions of our hearts. Intention is the source of being.

Our minds generate thoughts that grow into notions and ideas that become intentions and concepts for physical action. At the point of intention, our hearts have acted.

It is fundamentally important to understand the thought process and the thought-action pathway. Intention is a critical juncture of this essential pathway of human being. It is the beginning of being.

Intention is the executive act of the will. To intend is to choose in your heart; an inside decision to yield to the influences of grace or the temptations of evil.

To intend is more than a mere wish. A wish is a fantasy that may be intended or not. An intention is a determination of the heart. It is the foundation of choice that precedes the outward action by the body. When we intend, our heart has acted- our will has committed. Intention is a commitment of the will.

Intention is the executive policy of freewill. By it we are judged. Intention is everything.

Therefore intention must be well informed. Every decision of the heart must be carefully crafted. When intentions are not realized it is a significant waste of personal internal resources: you have wasted your thoughts.

Sadly many of us do not realize our intentions. We intend to do good, so we say, but eventually do not do it. We intend to pray, study the word, seek the Lord in run-away personal retreats which never happen. We intend to win a soul every month, save some money out of our meager salary, live a holy life by the strength of the Holy Spirit. Yet, when we come to take stock at the end of the month or year, many intentions never get implemented. Why?

Moreover, we often may find ourselves doing things we did not, as we claim, intend to.

Romans 7:15
For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that

O, I didn’t intend to lie, I didn’t intend to be late, I didn’t intend to forget, I didn’t intend to be angry, I didn’t intend to be poor, I didn’t intend to be a mediocre parent, I didn’t intend to be a disobedient child, I didn’t intend to be ungrateful to grace, I didn’t intend to live without faith. I didn’t intend to be a bad husband or a bad wife, etc. Are these not merely flimsy excuses?

Every voluntary action is an intentional action. That’s the simplicity of intention: volition.

At the start, we may have good intentions. The issue is that we often quickly change our minds in the face of challenges. When we meet problems, big or small, in the way of acting out our plans, we speedily change the plan. Sometimes this change is so fast and seems automatic. To the extent we love our convenience and fear consequences that may cause inconvenience, we change our initial intentions. This is a demonstration of inadequate integrity of intention.

Volition is sacred. We must stay true to our intentions. But this doesn’t come without much consideration. Effective intentions, good or wicked, are developed through effective integration of multiple diversity of thoughts. It requires sufficient understanding of diverse perspectives.

2 Timothy 2:7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

An intention must be integrated in design. Many time this happens unconsciously or subconsciously through assimilation of cultural norms. This is why home culture, child training, parental governance, Christian fellowship is important at an early stage, the formative years of life. This is one reason the biggest investment of church must be in the children’s and teens department. That’s were most of the money, infrastructure, teaching and learning materials, attention, accountability, volunteers, prayer fasting, reprove and correction, etc must be invested in, relatively.

The background to intention is formed by experience. The context of intention has strong influence on the content of the intention. So we need focus diligence and consistency to establish mind context, the soil, that would influence the generation of desired intentions.

If we refuse to be deliberate about our intentions we would have intentions anyway! And if we deny the actions that are produced by our “unintended intentions” then we deceive ourselves. The nature of human existence is that intentions will form, whether or not one is deliberate about them. And you will be responsible for the consequences. If you refuse to be deliberate about the actions of your heart, your body will sure act so far as you exist, and the results will be your portion. To live is to be responsible. Your body will be full of darkness if your eye is not single. Without an integrated intention running your life, you will have plenty undesired outcomes. This is may be why many desire a good life but end up having something else.

A single eye is full light to the body. An integrated intention, one that is informed by efficient considerations and good reasoning, will always give full illumination, good knowledge and understanding for a fruitful life.

It is written: Isaiah 1:18-19

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Choosing to live a life pleasing to God, each day, should emanate from reasoning with God. Everyday, we must each go to him to reason together. Reasoning with God is a blessed opportunity for humans. Ignoring is a sad choice. When we go to God to reason with him, instead just to ask him for favours, he opens up to reveal divers perspectives of knowledge, wisdom, instructions and guidance Tony’s. Can you imagine having a discussion with Omnipotence? What an opportunity!

What is your intention in life? The choice to be a Christian, to be born again should be with integrity. You have to be honest about it, not frivolous. It is the best part of intention to have in this life. This choice is a simple integrated act of your freewill.

How to build a context for integrated intentions of righteousness
1. Be honest about your confidence in God: deeply reflect on your claim of faith in Christ Jesus
2. Be serious about time management and accountability
3. Invest in reflections on the situation of your environment and the problems in your immediate society
4. Mind your health, nutrition, education, relationships, occupation, resources and relay
5. Mean what you say and say what you mean
6. Be patient and flexible
7. Be the Christian you say you are.

God’s Presence means He is always there even when the awareness is not. His Holy Spirit indwells believers at all times. The Lord is always with us, for He has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you'” (Heb. 13:5). In the age to come, believers will see Him as He is. ( 1 John 3:2 ).

A. How To Experience God’s Presence

Meditate on God’s Word; Confess and forsake sin; Pray in the Holy Spirit; Fasting; Singing to the Lord; Going to church; Being a generous giver and telling others about Jesus are some of the ways through which you experience the Presence of God.

B. Benefits Of God’s Presence

Some of the Benefits of being in God Presence Are:

1. Love – Romans 8:35, 37-39

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

2. Hope – Isaiah 40:31

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint

3. Joy – Psalm 16:11

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

4. Peace – Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

5. Protection – Thessalonians 3:3-5

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.

Isaiah 54:17

No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,”

6. Comfort – 2 Corinthians 1:4

Who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

7. All things are possible

Matthew 19:26

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Mark 9:23
“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”

Genesis 18:14
“Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”

Jeremiah 32:27
“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?

8. Compassion

Sin is a process, not an event; if you are attentive you will see it coming and escape. One big lie Satan keeps telling us is that sin is inevitable. First he makes us think that we are not capable of knowing every sin; that we may sin without knowing. But this is absurd because sin is a choice, a consequential choice for which the guilty must be punished.

If we claim to not know an action is sinful, our sin is primarily the ignorance. If we ignore the knowledge of sin and pretend to have sinned ignorantly, we deceive ourselves. The knowledge of good and evil is the moral compass of every human being. Ignorance of the law, when you could have known, is no excuse.

Sin is a process not a sudden helpless event. God warned Cain about his fallen countenance when his brother was preferred before him and sin was at the door. He ignored the warning and sinned.

Joseph had Potiphar’s wife make unholy advances to him several times, he saw the evil and fled at the last minute.

“Prov.22:3“ the prudent man foresee the the evil and hides himself, but the simple “pass on and are punished”.

Long before we sin, grace forewarns us. But those of us who choose not to be prudent do not foresee; we ignore the warnings of love and pass on in simplicity and lust for temporal pleasure.

Ananias and his wife did not lie suddenly, they did it deliberately because they had the chance not to lie. “All liars shall have their part in the lake of fire” big liars, small liars, white liars, black liars, deliberate liars and “unintentional” liars. When I lie, my problem is that I do not foresee the evil of my lies. My list for reputation, fear of embarrassment and greed for material fame shut my foresight. We pretend to be helpless at sin. But perhaps the truth is that we are snobbish towards God’s preventive grace. No wonder many times when He forgives us we go back into the same sin. We need to be more attentive and humble.

James 1: 14-15 “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”

Before we sin, we are drawn away from the Lord because of our lust. When our desires begin to draw us away from the Lord, we have began the process of sin. The Lord often, perhaps always, alerts us when we are drawing away from the Vine.

We need to be attentive and prove the honesty of our plenty religious activities by responding to his call to draw nearer rather than drawing away. When we are losing the spirit of prayer and the eagerness of studying the Word and the joy of sharing the goodness in our sphere of influence, then we are drawing away.

When the enemy sees as straying he quickly brings an enticement. An enticement entices! It takes away your attention from the straying and attracts you to the enticement. Don’t get there. That part of the process is slippery ground. Don’t get to the part of the road that will have the water splashed on you by a passing car on a rainy day. The draw away -enticement couple is a mighty duo. Don’t allow it to trap you. The love for convenience ( not Confort), the craze for recognition and reputation, the confidence in money, the attention to vain beauty…many more. These dare us away and entice. Run back into the Vine!

If you don’t run back to the Lord, your enticed lust will conceive sin in your heart. Oyster hard to pull back an enticed heart. But grace gives strength if we are willing and obedient. You may be enticed. To be enticed is not sin but info’s almost sin. Sin is the conception: your heart yields to the temptation. It is when you make the choice to lie, steal, rage, hate, not forgive etc ( even when it has not manifested physically).

We need a lot of patience in this life. We need a lot of “take heed to thyself”. But we don’t need more than one Saviour. He calls daily to stay in the Vine.

On Saturday August 28 2022, Miss Lois Mensah of Chemu Senior High School won the overall best orator at the second edition of the National Public Speaking Competition (NPSC). 28 selected good speakers were selected from 14 public and private high schools including Achimota School, Presbyterian Boys School, Mfantsiman Girls School, Legacy Girls School and Chemu School. They competed in three areas including prepared and impromptu speeches on contemporary local and international subjects.

The point of this piece is to dichotomize speech from mere oration, as it were, and urge us to make good meaning of what we say. We must speak, and not just be smooth professional talkers.

Of all God’s creation, man is the only that can speak. We have voice, with which to express intentions and can give out words to communicate motive and desires. The ability to speak is a divine gift that endorses our likeness to our source of life. It is a privilege we must be always grateful for.

When a man speaks, you expect reason, logic, sense, and feeling. When speech is devoid or germ, sanity is threatened. This is the power of oration: verbal communication so lucidly delivered as to carry an audience along, until they at least, find pleasure in listening, if they don’t find reason for immediate action.

In the Bible, the twelfth chapter of Acts, we find instructive references to oration that would engage reflective minds: the Herod who murders the Apostle James and looked forward to killing Peter after Easter. It is recorded, this king so spoke to his beneficiaries of Tyre and Sidon in an oration that made them hail him as the voice of a god and not a man. His end was an immediate consumption by worms, that betrayed is fallacious humanity. The lesson is that oration can come with a flamboyance that tempts the orator to assume a divine rather human capacity. The other orator we find in the New Testament is Tertullus, who was hired by the Jews to overpower with words, the convicting power of Apostle Paul’s submission before the joint council of Pharisees and Sadducees; in Acts chapter 24. He too failed.

Here is the point: mere oratory prowess has no virtue unless the heart of the orator is captured by a sincere love for truth and humbled by the worthlessness of human ability without God. Unless the smooth talker is regenerated by the grace of God, his oratory power has no value. Call it what you may: religion, sentiment, superstition; the evidence of our debauched generation, under the bondage of pseudo liberties, enforces our stiff necks.

Two other public speakers mentioned in the Bible, Moses and Jesus, show as more excellent ways today’s gifted orators should pursue to save their souls from this two-edged natural talent. The gift of oratory has often been misused to the peril of followers.

Many could be orators with cunning hearts and subtle lips who deceive the masses to have access to resources for their selfish gains. This has virtually destroyed the trust people have in what others tell them. Because oration is much about talk and less about speech, we may have the luxury to permit orators to tell us things they really don’t care about in real life. This is not the case for public speakers. Good public speakers would be orators but much more do they do beyond their words; they walk the talk.

Moses, God’s word tells us, was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was mighty in words and deeds (Acts 7:22). His actions were as effective as his words. He spoke powerful and acted powerfully. He was not a smooth but vain talker. We have to groom our young orators to be speakers rather than talkers. We should help them connect their words to their action. We should not allow them to fall into the trap of thinking that ability to talk is independent of the capacity to do; no it is not.

PR professionals are paid because they talk about what their companies actually do or will actually do and not what they wish but will never get to do. When public speakers speak well about what they have actually done or will surely do, their words are not merely passionate, they convict; they don’t just impress our feelings, they inspire our souls. They don’t just excite our hearings senses, they prick our conscience. They don’t just trigger our intellect, they commit our wills. True public speakers would be the best catalyst to transform society. That’s why Jesus, the Christ, transforms humanity.

He was an encouraging voice to the repentant sinner, tough metric to the religious hypocrite and dependable Lord to the obedient follower. The record in John 7:46 states; “The officers answered, never man spake like this man’ That was the back to office report when the Pharisees sent officers to go get him. Jesus spoke with conviction, not mere passion. His words had evidence of action that constitutes proof beyond reasonable doubt. This is why till today His words prick our conscience and convict our hearts to repent. So for every public speaker, the Master speaker, Jesus, should be the standard.

One casual afternoon, while scrolling through Pinterest, a captivating viral clip caught my attention. It featured a college student, identifying as agnostic, engaging in a heartfelt conversation with a campus preacher. The student earnestly sought an explanation for believing in God, showing a genuine desire to understand rather than provoke a debate. As I pondered this scenario, a thought emerged: If I were in the preacher’s shoes, could I effectively defend my faith and influence this individual? Would I possess the ability to articulate a compelling reason for my beliefs in that moment? This introspection prompts a crucial question for all of us: Are we truly prepared to defend our faith in a manner that resonates with others, or are we merely relying on surface-level knowledge and memorized verses (1 Corinthians 3:1-3)?

Proverbs 15:23 – To give a good answer is a joy to a man, and how pleasing is a word given at the right time!

Defending our faith transcends mere intellectual arguments; it requires a deep connection with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 6:19). By yielding to His guidance, we become vessels for God’s truth, capable of speaking words that not only convict but also transform hearts (Luke 24:32). Jesus entrusted us with a command to spread His word, acknowledging that some will reject while others will accept (Matthew 10:11-14). A good word to a yearning and attentive heart will transform, while the same word to a rebellious and hardened heart will judge. It is not our place to choose who gets to be saved by our word or not. Throughout Jesus’ ministry, and in the ministries of biblical figures like Stephen and Paul, we see the power and consequences of Spirit-led words.

Stephen delivered a powerful sermon to the Sanhedrin, recounting Israel’s history and highlighting their persistent disobedience. His words were undeniably true and convicting, but they also cut to the heart, leading his listeners to react with violence, ultimately resulting in his martyrdom (Acts 7). His speech condemned those who resisted the truth, illustrating how the Word of God can act as a double-edged sword, judging those who oppose it.

On the other hand, Peter preached with similar convicting words as Stephen, yet his message led to the salvation of about 3,000 people (Acts 2:14-42). Peter’s audience, unlike those who stoned Stephen, were not indignant but ignorant; they listened with open hearts, which led to their salvation. This reemphasizes Jesus’ parable of the sower(Matthew 13:1-9), in that we have no control over the heart of a person—whether they will receive or reject the word. Our responsibility is to speak it because of the necessity laid upon us(1 Corinthians 9:16). However, it is God who gives the growth(1 Corinthians 3:6-9). We must not fret or think the word we spoke has failed when an unbeliever rejects it, for it is their judgment. The word is true and is borne of God; it convicts to either judge or save. The stark differences in the outcomes of Stephen’s and Peter’s ministries highlight the crucial role of the Holy Spirit in guiding and empowering believers. Stephen’s words brought judgment to those who resisted the Spirit, while Peter’s words brought salvation to those whose hearts were open to the truth. Both men relied entirely on the Spirit’s wisdom and guidance, which is why their messages had such a profound impact, whether to condemn or to save.

Their examples teach us that our effectiveness in witnessing and preaching is not rooted in our own knowledge or eloquence but in our submission to the Holy Spirit. When we align our words with His divine influence, we can trust that they will accomplish God’s purposes, whether to transform, or judge.

This call to defend our faith extends beyond evangelists and pastors; it is a challenge that every believer must embrace, irrespective of their role or position (John 21:17). Are we actively nurturing our faith, delving deeper into God’s Word, and seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance in our lives (Acts 22:14)? Neglecting this preparation not only leaves others spiritually hungry but also risks hardening hearts to the truth (Ezekiel 34:1-10). However, by surrendering to the Holy Spirit, our words can become a potent force for conviction and salvation (Jeremiah 1:9-10).

Let this moment serve as a catalyst to deepen your faith, seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance, and equip yourself for the opportunities that await. Will you rise to the challenge, becoming a bold and Spirit-led witness for Christ in a world yearning for His presence? Here are practical steps to guide you on this transformative journey:

– Engage in introspection, identifying areas in your faith that require growth and development (2 Corinthians 13:5).
– Immerse yourself in resources such as Bible studies and devotional materials to enhance your understanding of God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15).
– Dedicate time to prayer, seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance and preparing yourself for the divine opportunities that lie ahead (Ephesians 5:16).

Let us commit to becoming courageous ambassadors for Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit to speak words that not only convict but also inspire transformation. The world awaits our testimony, and the time for action is now. Are you prepared to defend your faith and impact the lives of those around you? Let us embark on this collective journey, guided by the Holy Spirit and anchored in the eternal truth of God’s Word.
